I only take it off to shower or when getting my hands wet. After spending hundreds of dollars on thumb splints, this is the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. My thumb starts aching the moment the brace comes off.

Thumb stabilizers designed to hold the CMC joint at the base of the thumb in place, so you can continue doing what you love every day, whether that is knitting, crocheting, gardening or playing music.

Every pair includes two stabilizers, each fits your left or right hand, backed by our 60-day money-back guarantee.

Finding your size

It takes a minute, and you only measure once.

Measure — Wrap a soft tape measure around your palm at its widest point, just below the knuckles, with your thumb relaxed out to the side. No tape measure? A strip of paper or piece of string works just as well: wrap it round, mark where it meets, then hold it against a ruler.

Measure your dominant hand, or whichever is wider. Each stabilizer fits left or right, so one size covers both hands.

Read — Keep it snug but not tight, and note the measurement.

Match — Find your number below:

Extra Small 6.2"–7.5" (16–19 cm)

Small/Medium 7.5"–8.5" (19–21.5 cm)

Large/XL 8.5"–10" (21.5–25.5 cm)

On the border between two sizes? Pick the size up. The three straps take up the slack, and a brace that's too tight at the base of the thumb is the one people stop wearing.

My doctor told me to stop. I didn't.

I learned to crochet at sixteen from my grandmother and never put it down for long. Six years ago my doctor saw the click in my right thumb and told me I'd be doing myself a favor to stop. I almost did. Then I found this brace through an ad I nearly scrolled past. A few months later I'm on the couch every evening with a hook in my hand. The click at the base of my thumb is gone. The ache shows up occasionally but nothing like it used to.

Finally, a brace that lets my hand work

I have played in cover bands on weekends for about thirty years and my fretting thumb finally hit a wall last spring. Tried a thumb spica from the pharmacy first but it turned my whole hand into a block, could not even barre a chord. Then I bought a $90 rigid CMC brace I found on a guitar forum. The plastic edge cut into the base of my palm so badly I had a red mark for a week. This one is the first I have worn that actually lets me play. Not rigid, not bulky, and the joint stays where it needs to.

That needle feeling in my joint is gone

My hand therapist suggested this after I described the way my thumb would start feeling like there was a needle pressing into the joint about an hour into my afternoon. She said most of the clinical braces she sees are not actually built for the repetitive micro impacts of keyboard work because they are built for resting an injured joint, not using one. Three weeks of wearing it through my workday and that needle feeling does not show up anymore, even on heavy editing days.

Outlasted every Amazon brace I have tried

Three months of daily wear and nothing has gone slack, the Velcro still grips and the thumb pad is still firm. The two Amazon ones I tried before this both wore out inside a month.

Ordered wrong size, swapped in days

Got the wrong size to start, sat on my thumb so tight I could not wear it more than an hour. Emailed them on the Monday morning expecting the usual runaround. Same afternoon they sent me a prepaid return label and confirmed they would post the Large out the next day. Replacement landed by Wednesday and fits the way it is supposed to. First online exchange I have done that did not feel like a chore.

Came faster than my other orders

Ordered Tuesday evening expecting the usual seven to ten working day wait you get with most online shops. Tracking email landed the same night, dispatch confirmation by Wednesday morning, on my doorstep by Friday lunchtime. The whole thing felt like a real product from a real company before I had even cast on, glad I purchased from here.

Better than cheap ones from Amazon!

Been wearing it for the past two months almost every day and still nothing has gone slack. The Amazon one I bought wore out in about two weeks of using.

Support done right.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and this is the question we hear most, because almost every customer has tried a brace that did get in the way. The Thumb Hand Stabilizer is soft and slim, not rigid.

It supports the joint at the base of your thumb without locking the thumb itself, and it leaves your fingertips and thumb tip completely bare. You can keep doing your tasks as usual, just without that pain.

Yes. It fits your left or right wrist. Many customers order two so they have one ready while the other is refreezing.

Yes, and most customers do. At 3mm thick it's the thinnest stabilizer we've found that still holds the joint. Sleeping in it stops you bending the thumb in your sleep, which is when most people re-strain the joint without knowing it. The biggest difference most customers notice is how their thumb feels in the morning.

Snug, not tight. Tighten the wrist strap first, then the palm strap, then the thumb strap last. You should be able to slide one finger under the wrist strap. If your fingertips tingle or change colour, loosen it.

Rigid splints are designed to lock the thumb so the joint can rest. That's appropriate for an acute injury, but it makes it physically impossible to knit, crochet or do any other work properly.

Our Resilea THumb & Wrist Stabilizer does the opposite job: it holds the joint at the base of your thumb so it stops sliding, while leaving every moving part of your hand free. Same goal of joint protection, but opposite method.

Rigid splints are designed to lock the thumb so the joint can rest. That's appropriate for an acute injury, but it makes it physically impossible to type or do any other work properly.

Our Thumb Hand Stabilizer does the opposite job: it stabilizes the joint at the base of your thumb so it stops sliding past itself, while leaving every moving part of your hand free. Same goal of joint protection, but opposite method.

Yes, completely. Your fingertips and the very tip of your thumb stay bare and nothing covers the pads. This is the single biggest difference between the Thumb & Wrist Stabilizer and most clinical braces, which immobilize the whole thumb and kill your ability to work with comfort.

Close the Velcro straps first, then hand wash in cool water with mild soap, or put it in a mesh bag on a gentle machine cycle. Air dry flat, away from direct heat — that's what keeps the spica strip and the Velcro like new.
