I only take it off at night or when getting my hands wet. After spending hundreds of dollars on wrist splints, this is the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. My wrist starts aching when the wrap comes off.

How It Works

Our wrist wrap delivers targeted cold and heat therapy directly at the base of your thumb and wrist. The gel core sits right over the CMC joint and carpal tunnel, so every minute of cold or heat goes exactly where it is needed.

Sizing

Finding your size

It takes a minute, and you only measure once.

  1. Measure. Wrap a soft tape measure around your palm at its widest point, just below the knuckles, with your thumb relaxed out to the side. No tape measure? A strip of paper or a piece of string works just as well — wrap it round, mark where it meets, then hold it against a ruler.Measure your dominant hand, or whichever is wider. Each order includes a left and a right, so one size covers the pair.
  2. Read. Keep it snug but not tight, and note the measurement.
  3. Match. Find your number in the chart above.

Results

What matters is consistency. The ThermaCompress reduces swelling over time, so steady daily use is what builds results. Here's what our customers report:

  • Days 1–2: Subtle shifts. Slightly less tightness at the base of the thumb by the end of a session. Nothing dramatic yet.
  • Weeks 2–3: Less stiffness, better range of motion, that low-grade ache at the base of the thumb finally letting up.
  • Weeks 4–6: Most people hit their stride here. The cumulative effect of daily cold and heat therapy shows up in how the thumb and wrist feel during and after long crochet sessions — not just while you're wearing it.
  • Ongoing: Continued use maintains results. Stopping generally lets the swelling build back up, and the old tightness tends to creep back over several weeks.

Materials & Care

What is it made of?
The outer sleeve is made from soft compression fabric — polyester, nylon, and spandex. The gel core is a flexible solid gel that stays pliable straight from the freezer.

Allergy & sensitive skin information

  • Latex-free. Contains no latex.

How do I care for it?
Wipe the outside with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry naturally out of direct sunlight. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

Crochet Pain-free Again

Without Cortisone, Surgery, or Giving Up What You Love

Title

Slip on the ThermaCompress and the gel core sits directly over the base of your thumb and wrist, so the swelling that builds with every stitch finally gets somewhere to go.

The cold stays for up to 45 minutes. The compression holds it in place. All four fingers stay completely free, so you can still grip your hook the way you always have, and get a good while longer before the deep ache creeps in.

Most Solutions Only Mask the Pain Temporarily

This is where most crocheters get stuck.

Title

Rigid thumb splints stop the sliding by locking the whole thumb in place. The pain stops, but so does any chance of crocheting.

Wrist braces lock the whole wrist down. Fine at night while you sleep, but sit down to crochet and you can't move your wrist or your thumb. You can't grip a hook. You can't even hold a coffee.

Cortisone shots, NSAIDs, kinesiology tape all calm the inflammation around the joint. None of them bring the swelling down while you crochet. So the moment you pick up your hook again, the cycle restarts. The first cortisone shot might buy a few months, the second buys less, and the third usually leads to surgery.

Designed by Hand Therapists

Designed with hand therapists, the ThermaCompress is built for the way your hands actually move.

Thousands of crocheters wrote in asking for something that could treat the swelling while they worked — not hours later on the sofa with a bag of frozen peas. So we built it.

The gel core is shaped to sit directly over the CMC joint and the carpal tunnel — the two spots that take the most punishment from repetitive hooking. Freeze it for 45 minutes of cold that doesn't drip on your yarn. Microwave it for 30 seconds for heat before your session. The compression sleeve holds it exactly in place the whole time, and all four fingers stay free.

We make a small number of things, properly, for the women who actually use them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we get most

Can I actually do something with this on, or will it get in the way?

Yes, and this is the question we hear most, because almost every customer has tried a brace that did get in the way. The ThermaCompress is soft and slim, not rigid. It supports the joint at the base of your thumb without locking the thumb itself, and it leaves your fingertips and thumb tip completely bare. You can keep crocheting as usual, just without the pain.

Can I wear a single wrap on either wrist?

Yes. It fits your left or right wrist. Many customers order two so they have one ready while the other is refreezing.

Should I use hot or cold?

Cold for swelling, flare-ups and after a crochet session. Heat for stiffness and aching when there's no swelling. Most people use heat in the morning before they start and cold in the evening after. If you're recovering from surgery, follow what your surgeon or physio has told you.

How do I heat it up?

Bring it to room temperature first, then 30 seconds in the microwave, adding 10 seconds at a time until it feels comfortably warm. Always test it on your forearm before it goes on your wrist.

How long does it stay cold?

Up to 45 minutes from a single freeze — around nine times longer than a standard ice bag. Freeze it for 2–3 hours before use.

How is this different from the rigid thumb splints I've already tried?

Rigid splints are designed to lock the thumb so the joint can rest. That's appropriate for an acute injury, but it makes it physically impossible to crochet or do any other work properly. The ThermaCompress does the opposite: it stabilizes the joint at the base of your thumb so it stops sliding past itself, while leaving every moving part of your hand free. Same goal of joint protection, but opposite method.

Will my fingertips and thumb tip still be free?

Yes, completely. Your fingertips and the very tip of your thumb stay bare and nothing covers the pads. This is the single biggest difference between the ThermaCompress and most clinical braces, which immobilize the whole thumb and make it impossible to hold a hook comfortably.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the outside with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry naturally. Don't put it in a washing machine or dishwasher, and keep it out of direct sunlight — that's what preserves the gel.

How long will shipping take?

Most US/CAN/NZD/UK/AUS orders arrive within 4–7 business days once shipped. Most international orders arrive within 7–15 business days once shipped. In some rare cases it can take longer. Please don't hesitate to contact our customer support team via the contact form on our website.
